James Cook Academy strengthens ties with Marshall Cavendish Education to develop IT and Soft Skills online courses for K-12 educators

Tafenpah.com - On 11 November 2022, James Cook Academy (JCA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Marshall Cavendish Education (MCE) with the objective of offering a suite of short online learning courses through JCA’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Eagle Infotech, in the areas of information technology and soft skills for K-12 educators outside of Singapore. 


The online short courses will be hosted on MCEduHub for Professional Development (PD) — MCE’s 24/7 learning portal designed for educators to access certified courses, anytime and anywhere. In 2021, James Cook University in Singapore established James Cook Academy which in turn acquired Eagle Infotech for Continuing Professional Development.



On the other hand, Marshall Cavendish Education is a global education solutions provider dedicated to nurturing the joy of learning and preparing students and educators for the future. MCE’s educational content and solutions seeks to simplify learning and fit the needs of schools, educators, students, and parents. They setup their professional development portal — MCEduHub for Professional Development in 2019.

The partnership was inked on 11 November by Mr Andrew Chew, Chief Executive Officer of James Cook Academy and Chairman of Eagle Infotech and Mr. Lim Soon Jinn, Head of Digital Solutions and Commercial of MCE.


The signing was witnessed by Mrs. Nicola Hodgman, Associate Director Special Projects, James Cook University in Singapore and Mr Yeoh Cheng Poh, Head of MCE.



Mr Lim Soon Jinn, Head of Digital Solutions and Commercial shared, “IT and Soft skills have been growing in demand not only in the corporate world but in the education sector too. The use of technologies in education has helped improve efficiency in teaching and learning. Good soft skills such as effective communication has also helped teachers to create a better connection with students, parents and their fellow teachers.”


“We believe that our collaboration with James Cook Academy will add to the variety of our online courses that are readily accessible on MCEduHub for PD and make affordable for educators around the region.”
